Who we are

The Apa-Agatu Marathon is organised by the Foundation for Apa-Agatu Development (FAAD), a community development foundation working across the Apa-Agatu Federal Constituency of Benue State, Nigeria. FAAD is the organisation responsible for the information you share with us through this website.

Our office address is B1 Grace Court Estate Katampe, FCT Abuja.

What we collect

We only ask for what we need to run a safe race and keep in touch with you about it.

  • Your name, date of birth, gender and nationality.
  • Your email address and phone number.
  • Your state of origin, local government area, council ward where relevant, and address.
  • Your race category, bib size and any para-athlete assistance you request.
  • Your emergency contact's name, phone number and relationship to you.
  • Any medical condition you choose to tell us about, and for runners under 18, a parent or guardian's name and phone number.
  • For sponsors, volunteers and enquiries: your contact details, organisation, role and the message you send us.

How we use it

Your details are used to confirm your place, issue your registration number, allocate your bib and race category, contact you before race day, and keep you safe on the course. Medical information and your emergency contact are shared with our race-day medical team only if you need help.

We may also send you occasional updates about the marathon and other FAAD community initiatives. You can ask us to stop at any time.

Registration is free. We never ask for payment and we never sell your details to anyone.

The three consents you agree to at registration

These are the declarations you tick on the final step of the registration form, set out in full.

Where your details are held

Submissions are stored in the Foundation's secure event database and mirrored to a private spreadsheet that only authorised FAAD organisers can open. Confirmation emails are sent from the official marathon mailbox. Access is limited to the small team organising the event and our service providers, who are not permitted to use your details for anything else.

How long we keep it

Registration records are kept for up to two years after the event so we can produce results, reports to partners, and invite returning runners. Medical notes are deleted within three months of race day. Anything you ask us to delete is removed unless we are required to keep it for accident or safeguarding records.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your media or marketing consent, or ask us to delete your record. Write to us using the details below and we will respond within 30 days. Withdrawing the health or data consent after you have registered means we can no longer keep your place on the start line.

Runners under 18

A runner under 18 must give a parent or guardian's name and phone number, and that parent or guardian is taken to have agreed to these terms on the runner's behalf. We contact them, not the runner, on any matter of safety or medical care.
